Black Friday, Shop Small Saturday, Cyber Monday…

This weekend has just been bad for the pocket.. started off with Black Friday where I went a little berserk carting stuff from these shops that I had been eyeing for a bit. The IG pals were all oogling over this pair of Jeremy Scott’s wing tips for their kiddos and I decided to pop them into the cart as Adidas was having a special 15% discount (Code: ADI-CM-PUB; valid till 30 Nov, 11.59pm). Well, couldn’t resist.

AdidasAnd down the rabbit hole I fell accumulating more purchases along the way.

IMG_8398Supported small shops locally as well as from around the world as part of the weekend first by customising a cute kimono flutter romper from Urban Lil that will be perfect for Chinese New Year (next year). I even got myself a some-what similar print dress from ASOS that could match with her (if I dare to go with the whole twinning route). Picked up another pair of BLOCH shoes for the Bub as well as these adorable leotards from The Little Bow Company. Bubba has been picked as a Brand Rep for The Little Bow Company and friends can also enjoy 5% off your purchase using our special code SOPHL5.

IMG_8399Leotards seem to be all the rage this season among my mama friends and despite my initial thought about ‘So inconvenient to change the Bub if there are no snaps at the bottom!’ Yes, I am a ‘snap button’ fiend. Most of the rompers I go purchasing for Bubba have to have snaps. And then I found out those uber comfy rompers from Rags (without snaps) and how easy it is to change the Bub, there was no turning back. Same with these leotards. So soft and comfy to touch and easy to put on as well. Well, I guess if the Bub decides to do a major poo, then I probably would think twice, but for now, they look super cute on her! So much so, I went on to get another 3/4 flutter sleeve leotard from This Tribe of Three.

Bubba is also out-growing her onesies, so I got her these super cool slogan tees from B Gatsby  at a cool 30% off (and they had better discounts thereafter..zzz…) to be paired with her sleek faux leather leggings from Lulu and Milly or her black skull-printed tights from Baby Bandits. I’ve decided to do away with light coloured leggings for a bit for Bubba ends up either spilling or dirtying her pants. So I’m sticking with dark coloured bottoms for now! Plus, they do look pretty swag for her. What do you think?

I’m all shopped out for abit now. Will share the haul when everything arrives with my little model-in-tow. Going to try and rest the pocket for Christmas buys. How about you? What are some of your awesome weekend buys? Share them with me if the offer is still valid! Hehe..

Perky Toki Jujube BFF

img_1638-1The diaper bag to end all diaper bags? I think this phrase is definitely familiar. Afterall, I said it once here and here. Then the Mama pals all went on to purchase the Jujube BFF and down the rabbit hole, I fell hard once again when they released this uber cute Perky Toki design that I felt that I could hardly resist.

So presenting my Perky Toki BFF diaper bag that has been our trusty buddy for a bit before I move on to another new bag. Hehe!

IMG_1639The boxy structured look of the diaper bag is a departure from the other soft structured bag that I had. I actually like that this bag can be carried 2 ways – backpack as well as a sling. It does help to keep my hands free and use it as a backpack so that I can carry or hold on to Bubba.

Love that the BFF is also very roomy with loads of compartments for me to organise Bubba’s things. The Man who’s actually a neat freak does like the bag. When I haphazardly stuff Bubba’s stuff into the bag in a hurry, the Man will actually grumble and then pack all her stuff neatly into the bag (the way he likes it to be organised).

IMG_1641I obviously couldn’t resist getting the matching Paci Pod not for storing of pacifiers but instead, we use this to store her hair-clips and her small hair accessories.

IMG_1649 This post has been in my draft folder for a bit but essentially, not much different from what I bring/ pack for Bubba when I head out with her. She’s about 18 months now, so an extra change of clothes – in case of spills, 3-4 diapers kept in the Jujube Be Quick, wet wipes stored in the Butipod and a soft muslin blanket stashed in the BFF in case she falls asleep in her stroller while we are out.

IMG_1652These Jujube Be Quicks are such handy bags to have around! I ended up getting another one in this King Court’s design. Love that it’s black with cute cartoon characters on it, it’s super versatile too so even if it gets dirty, I’m not too fussed about it.

IMG_1654Along with diapering and changing necessities, if we are out for a long time or for a long meal, I would also pop in her fave book, some stickers and a messy bag – courtesy of Aunty Mag who very thoughtfully made this for the bub to keep her tiny hands occupied.

IMG_1656These are some of the feeding essentials that we will bring along when we head out with Bubba. Our fave Elodie Details polka dot bib from The Little Bow Co which we really love using because of it’s fancy details. We also bring along a bibdana for Bubba when she drinks from her water bottle. Sometimes she likes to spit the water out and end up wetting her clothes, so the bibdana to the rescue to prevent any major water spills. We also bring along a pack of disposable bibs if we are heading out the whole day and don’t have enough time to wash the other soiled bib. Disposable bibs are a must when we travel too! So convenient to just pop it around Bubba’s neck and then trash it when she’s done with eating her meal. No need for me to go back to the hotel to wash her bib after a long day out.

Along with the bibs, I would also bring along her feeding spoon, 3M Scotch portable food scissors (again recommended by Mama Mag and Libby). This is our 3rd pair of food scissors already! Although it’s a little pricier compared to other brand of food scissors in the market, but it’s really one of the best around for it’s sharp plus resistant to rust – unlike others that I’ve used and trust me, you don’t want rust on your toddler’s food!

IMG_1657Snacks and milk feeds are also a must when we head out with Bubba. Snack catchers are a brilliant way to keep your toddler’s tiny hands occupied and for them to practice self-feeding. Oh and to prevent them from over-stuffing their faces with too much of the puffs at any one time too! For variety, I sometimes like to bring along this GoStak Portable Containers. It’s a handy device that keeps Bubba’s snacks organised and more importantly keeping them fresh.

We used to take along these food packages from Wakodo or Pigeon out (more for comfort actually in case Bubba doesn’t eat what we order). But we ended up dumping them because turned out Bubba didn’t really enjoy eating them either despite us putting them on top of rice. So instead of wasting food, we decided to either bring her home-cooked soup out or now that she’s older, she simply just eat what we eat when we head out as an occasional treat!

Okay, a lengthy review for the Jujube BFF but what do we really like and not like about it? Here goes my honest opinion:

What I like about the Jujube BFF:

  • It’s boxy structured look with the many compartments that allows me to stuff different things in them – talk about organising, the number of compartments you get in this bag is really amazing!
  • The cute cartoon print, need I say more?! It was one of the first things that drew me to get the bag. I even got a manicure in these yummy candilicious colours.
  • The bag doubles up as a tote bag as well as a messenger bag (2-in-1 function : Checked!). The backpack function is useful when I carry Bubba and wish to keep my hands free of carrying another  bag. While the messenger strap is useful for times when I just need to get to somewhere real quickly and don’t have time to use it as a backpack.
  • The Mommy Pocket is a thoughtful feature to have! I throw in my sunnies and other knick-knacks into the front compartment. I must add though, the front pocket is not sufficient for my big, bulky wallet. Plus I get rather paranoid about my wallet being nicked if I’m not able to see it, so I prefer to stash my wallet hidden in the back compartment instead.

IMG_4157What we didn’t quite like about the Jujube BFF:

  • We realised that the bag is not big enough to fit all the things that we need if we were to head out with Bubba the full day. That said, the Man always manages to efficiently pack and utilise all the compartments.
  • While I liked the boxy structured look of the bag, I also felt that it’s structure also is a double-edged sword, I usually end up hitting people in crowded places resulting in dagger stares being thrown along my way.
  • The weight of the bag! Funnily, the bag with all its straps tend to be on the heavier side. After stuffing the bag with our stuff, it actually was quite heavy to carry. When we hung it on our Zen Yoyo, it actually toppled our stroller. In such cases, the Man to the rescue then!
  • The print! While it’s very cute and colourful but it also made it difficult for me to match my clothes. I often have to plan in advance what I want to wear (muted or pastel one-tone colour outfits) in order for me not to look like a clown when carrying the bag. So over time, the practical side of me won over.

IMG_4428That said, it made for a really hardy bag that even the Man doesn’t mind carrying along! 🙂

Next, looking at getting the King Court BRB as the black and white characters would be more ideal for our lifestyle.. stay tuned for the review!

Weekend musings

IMG_0170The weekend just went by in a flash… still can’t quite believe it. But it was quite a fulfilling one. Spent time with the bub, spent time with our friends, had a massage and even managed to squeeze in a spot of shopping at my fave Club21 stores ahead of the sale and scored new clothes and a yummy cross-body bag! So, yup, I shouldn’t complain!

IMG_0171Bubba has learnt how to pull her bows off! Guess who was devastated!? Why, me of course! I bought so many bows for her and now I don’t know what to do with them! Argh! I kinda am waiting for her hair to grow a little before we can start experimenting little ponytails. So for now, her little ootd will have to be just her outfit and this pair of soft-sole sports shoes that she will put on now that she started taking little steps.

Side-note: Hard to get her to sit still to take these shots. It often involves some kind of ‘bribing’ which comes in the form of food.

Got a super packed work-week this week and then I can finally look forward to the 4day work-week ahead. Just gotta this week.. I know I can do it… Oohza!

For sale: Pink Lining Diaper Bag

I’m making space in Bubba’s wardrobe so am clearing out this Pink Lining Not So Plain Jane Diaper Bag – Woodlands at a good bargain.

Here are some of the amazing features of the diaper bag.81PEGB67UhL__SL1500_

(Source: Pink Lining)

Unfortunately, the Man found this bag a tad bit too girly for him which is why we hardly use it when we bring Bubba out. Having said that, the two times that I did use this, I found all the different compartments in the bag to be useful in separating the many things that I have to bring with Bubba in tow.

The Pink Lining brand of diaper bags is apparently quite popular in the UK and fast gaining a cult status here in Singapore. Not many places retail it, so you will be among the trend-setters for carrying this bag. I really do love the deer / bambi print but alas, didn’t pass the Man’s scrutiny on the design.

What you will get:
On the exterior of the bag, there’s a zip pocket for essentials and two elasticated side pouches which are great for bottles or snacks. The bag also comes with an adjustable shoulder strap that is long enough to fit over any pram/buggy handle bars.

Internal Features include 2x insulated bottle holders, 2x nappy pockets, pen holder, key fob, mirror, phone pocket, small zip pocket, padded changing mat and wet zip bag.

Dimensions: 38(L) x 28(H) x 14(W) cm

Condition of the bag: 9/10 (used only twice)

I had this bag specially shipped in from the US and paid close to S$160 for this. I’m selling this for S$70 if you are interested to purchase the item. Please email me at if you are keen on the item.  SOLD!

A treat for myself

I take a break from shopping for Bubba to shopping for myself instead. It’s been a while since I treated myself so I decided to indulge a little and get myself these pair of Dior earrings that I’ve been eyeing for a while.

Okay, I’m a little late on the Mise En Dior earrings trend but they have been wildly popular for a while and often sold out in the boutiques here. When I checked out the range in the Dior boutique in Tokyo, nothing really stood out significantly. Decided to just pop into the store over lunch the other day with a colleague and was planning to check out these earrings with a silver and gold finish. Tried them on and was about to pay for it when I laid my eyes on this pair of earrings instead.

IMG_0192Love the steel grey pearl finish and the unique lace pattern on the opposite side of the earring. Tried them on and it was simply gorgeous. So without much hesitation, I whipped out my credit card and walked out of the boutique a little poorer but with a skip in my footstep for it was a happy Friday indeed! 🙂

Some TLC: Earth Mama Angel Baby

IMG_4886Decided to give myself some TLC (tender loving care) in my third trimester and ordered all these stuff not only for myself but to prep for the Bun’s arrival. Thanks to a tip by S who highly recommended some of Earth Mama Angel Baby products and they are stocked on iherb where I do most of my shopping for groceries and supplements for the home

The Organic Third Trimester Tea: This 100% organic tea was formulated as a tonic for mamas who are heading into the home stretch during the third trimester.  In terms of timing, this was perfect.  What won me over was the delicious blend of beneficial herbs that’s formulated to nurture all mama parts gearing up for the arrival of baby such as Red Raspberry Leaf that’s packed with vitamins and minerals and is recommended by midwives as a woman’s body prepares for labor and iron-rich stinging nettle, calming chamomile and rosehips, both full of vitamins and bioflavonoids, and calcium-filled oat straw.  I drink this occasionally in the office when I need a quick perk-me-up.

Organic Milkmaid Tea: As a first-time mum, I would definitely like to try breastfeeding Bun.  My sis who’s an advocate on breastfeeding tells me it’s mind over matter and that I must psyche myself that I have sufficient supply for the baby.  That’s what many of the literature out there advocates as well.  Nonetheless, I don’t mind relying on some aids to kick-start the supply if ever needed. Fennel and Fenugreek are supposed to aid in the milk supply so that’s what this tea is packed with along with milk thistle seed, anise seed and caraway seed.  The whole blend sounds really licorice so I’m hoping it will taste ok.  Well, if all else fails, I’m just going to pretend its tasty and do my best to chuck the whole cuppa down for my own good.

Angel Baby Bottom Balm for the Bub:  Loving the ingredients used in the balm that’s clinically tested, zero toxin, cruelty-free, hospital recommended and vegan!  This made with organic Calendula Bottom Balm is a safe and effective diaper cream that’s gentle on baby’s tender bottoms.  The jar is also of a great size so perfect for the diaper bag.

Natural Nipple Butter for myself:  S highly recommended getting this to moisturise the tender bits during the entire breastfeeding process.  I went along with the recommendation because she’s been really nice in sharing her tips throughout my entire pregnancy journey.  Again, moisturise those itty bits religiously before the arrival of your Bub!  This zero-toxins, natural nipple butter is a lanolin-free nursing cream that’s made with organic calendula, cocoa and shea butter.  I’ve heard stories of breastfeeding, some good, some not-so-good.  Heard that although the entire experience is wonderful, it can also hurt loads.  So this natural nipple butter is god-sent and one that safely moisturises and soothes everything from mama nipples to baby cheeks.  It’s safe for mama and baby so there’s no need to wash it off before nursing!  Score!  Extra moisturising for the itty bits!  🙂

I’m sure the above products are available in some of the stores in Singapore.  So if you wish to get your hands on them, just keep a look-out for the brands.  Else, you can be like me and order ahead from iHerb.  Shopping deets below to enjoy a discount on your first purchase if you are not a member with them yet.

Shop You can save $10 off your first order of $40 or more; or $5 off orders less than $40! just by using my Rewards Code CJV852

I will try to do another personal review of these products when I’ve actually used them.  But if you would like to read another mum’s review of some of these items, do check out the Little Bow Girl’s review.  I chanced upon her site while doing some research on a baby cot for the Bun and since then, been a follower of her blog and tales. 🙂

Soft towels at Familiar

Processed with VSCOcam with m5 presetOur recent trip to Japan saw me checking out the Children’s floor/department at several department stores that we frequent.  The Man would tag along but his energy levels would slowly wane as he got bored of the offerings.  I don’t blame him for some of the selection actually look the same for each department store that we visited.  As for me, I was busy checking out the prices for some of the pieces that I had my eye on and oogling some of the lovely pieces that would be too expensive to splurge for Bun.  In my opinion, the best shopping experience for buying our baby stuff at department stores has gotta be Isetan and Mitsukoshi.  So if you are planning to check out baby stuff, try these places.

The Man picked out a cute little bonnet and a romper for Bun.  We did check out several of the concessionaires before deciding on this purple bonnet which I’m hoping she will get a longer wear out of it.  Is it really necessary to get a hat for the newborn?  I’m not too sure but it was on many of the checklists that I’ve come across.  Decided to just be conservative this time and we got just one for now.  Got a white hand-me-down hat from the cousin as well, so I guess 2 is enough for her.

IMG_4669During our shopping expedition for Bun, I’ve also realised that several Japanese moms would hang out at the Familiar concessionaire.  Up until then, I’ve not heard of this brand but was intrigued by the amount of traffic that the concessionaire would enjoy.  Some of the items had a hefty price tag attached to it which probably drove me away in the first place.  That was before my eyes caught sight of these cute towels and handkerchiefs under this brand.  Price-wise, a tad bit more expensive than usual brands but my, when I touched these towels, they were oh-so-soft!  I almost wanted to rub my face against the softness of the towel.  So I sheepishly put 2 pieces into the shopping basket.

IMG_4670Did I mention about the prints?  They were simply a-do-rable!!!!  In soft pink/grey and purple hues in the cutest animal print designs that I’ve seen so far.  And with stars on them?  I was sold!!  Grabbed another one of these towels and brought home 3 of them in all for Bun.  That should last her for a while.  Friends told me that babies go through swaddles and towels really quickly so I’m hoping with 3, this can be rotated.

IMG_4673Oh, wait!  Make that 4 towels then.  Also picked up this hooded towel in a pink striped with butterfly print.  The quality of these towels that are made in Japan are simply amazingly soft.  Even though they are a little bit pricier than usual, but I find the designs and more importantly, the quality worth the money spent.
