The chalet that we’ve been staying at St Anton comes full board, meaning breakfast, afternoon tea, canapes, dinner is included in the package. But the Chalet staff get a day off during the week and we will have to look for our own dinner options. Restaurant Hospiz Alm came recommended by the team and the whole crew headed there for dinner on Wednesday night.
What’s really impressive about the place has got to be the amazing and extensive wine cellar! They boast a really large collection of fine wines in different sizes. Needless to say, this was the highlight of the trip for me. Bummer I couldn’t really drink that much. 😦
Well, I did sneak a small glass since it was an exceptional huge-a$$ Burgundy wine they ordered. I’m sure Bun would appreciate the taste of it in my belly.
Dinner for the evening was a Chinois Fondue (kinda like our Chinese steamboat) with chicken broth and mixed meats. Again, another heavy meal laden with meat. I do miss my veggies and I’m actually trying my best to ingest as much greens so that Bun would enjoy them now. 🙂
After dinner, we were treated to a private tour of the AMAZING wine cellar that housed 80 million dollars worth of wine. Yup, 80 buckeroos of wine all in the cellar. As we passed through the bottles of wine, I was blown away by the sheer size and vintage of some of the bottles.
The largest bottle of Champagne ever made! Doesn’t look big here but check it out..
Yup, goofing around in the cellar. :p Doubt that went down very well with the servers but thankfully, they had better things to do.
