Had to bring the Man to Locanda Verde since he didn’t join us the first time round when we visited the place. I really loved the home-style cuisine that Locanda Verde had to offer and since it was pretty close to where we took our tour, we decided to pop in there for a late lunch.
If you want to avoid the long wait, I do recommend that you book your tables in advance. I use Open Table quite a lot when it comes to booking of tables in restaurants in the US. It’s pretty fuss-free and cancellations are a breeze too should you have a change in mind but do it early to avoid any penalties or low-score rating.
The Sheep’s Milk Ricotta with sea-salt and herbs is a must-order over at Locanda Verde. The Man was pretty impartial when I suggested this dish for he isn’t a big fan of sheep’s milk but he found this starter to be rather tasty. As we went pretty late, the Lamb Meatball Sliders were already out. Do order that if you ever get a chance, they are really, really good!
For the mains, we shared the Fire-Roasted Garlic Chicken (US$25) which was done beautifully with garlic, rosemary and thyme. The Man reckoned he could replicate the dish back home. Shouldn’t be too difficult as we already do a pretty good roast occasionally at home.
My fave of the lot has got to be this dish – My Grandmother’s Ravioli. There is something homely about this simple dish and it always brings back to mind fond memories of wholesome Italian food in Italy. So this is definitely a winner in my book.Locanda Verde Address: 377 Greenwich St, (corner of N.Moore and Greenwich), New York, NY 10013 Telephone: (212) 925-3797
