KONK® I: Protect against dengue

What exactly is KONK® I?

KONK® I is reputed to be one of the most effective and safest insecticides known to man.  How is it non-toxic?  Well, the main active ingredient in KONK® I is Pyrethrin which is a natural extract that comes from the chrysanthemum flower.

KONK® I contains no CFCs or other ozone depleting substances.  That’s good to know because do we really need another one of these products that harm the environment?

KONK® I is registered by the Vector Control and Research Department, National Environment Agency in Singapore.  So it’s safe for use in our homes in Singapore.  Made in USA, a can of KONK® I can last for 30 days, 24 hours a day in its battery-operated air-guard (AG) dispenser.

How does KONK® I work?

I must admit that I was pretty intrigued on how KONK® I actually works.  I mean a natural pesticide?  Can it really do the job?  How does it work exactly?

I’ve been told that KONK® I attacks the insects’ nervous systems and kills it slowly.  I had wanted to insert a picture of an insect’s nervous system but what I could find online kinda grossed me out, so I decided to spare you the gore.  And guess what, KONK® I does not just kill flies, it also kills mosquitoes, gnats, midges, house flies, fruit flies, horse flies, ants and get this, it repels cockroaches!

You’ve gotta use the KONK® I with the patented automatic Air Guard (AG) Timed Release Mister (otherwise known as dispenser).  The Mister automatically discharges a time-released metered dose of CFC-free natural insecticide.  One unit of this in the air can control up to 170m³ of space.

Putting KONK® I to work:

With the new-found knowledge, I couldn’t wait to put the KONK® I together with the dispenser to good use.

Opened up the packaging and the instructions looked rather tricky but I managed to decipher them.  So you know it wasn’t all that difficult!  Hehe..

Open the plastic case by inserting a coin into the slot at the bottom of the case and twist.  The 2 parts of the device should come apart rather easily.

Lift the front case with the motorised devices upwards and separate the 2 cases apart.

Now, taking the KONK® I can of insect killer, you first remove the spray button.

Kinda easy for it comes out rather easily.

Next, simply screw the can into the device.  Remember not to over-tighten otherwise, removal of the can might be difficult.

Now, that didn’t look too difficult right? 🙂

It’s now been put to good use within our bedroom and different areas of the home.  I’m actually kinda excited to test-drive this product for this natural pesticide is not only environmentally friendly but harmless to humans (plus pets – good for Sparky).

Stay tuned for updates along the way and perhaps a couple of pictures if I manage to snap some unfortunate creepy crawlies that this nifty device has wiped out.  Also, in 2 weeks time, I will be testing out the KONK® I Handheld Flying Insect Killer, so do watch out for that post to come.
