So it was my turn to decide where we will be having dinner for our date-night challenge. Japanese was the theme for the month for it’s one of our fave cuisine. It shouldn’t be that difficult for I believe that there are plenty of good Japanese restaurants on our tiny island that we’ve yet to uncover. Problem is that the Man’s taste-buds can be quite picky when it comes to Japanese food.
So I mulled over my choices and decided to head to Nagomi. A couple of friends have been there and according to a reliable source, when Tetsuya Wakuda of Waku Ghin fame comes to town, this is the place that he heads to as well. Well, if it’s good enough for Tetsuya, then it’s good enough for us as well.
There isn’t an ala-carte menu so be prepared to just eat whatever the chef prepares. If you have any dietary restrictions, be sure to inform your server when they ask. 🙂
Loved the fresh Momo tomatoes that we had as a starter. Juicy and sweet, they were best enjoyed with a tiny pinch of salt.
Next up, a sashimi platter. This the Man didn’t quite enjoy. He said the sashimi platter that we had at Ginza Kurosan was much better. I was obviously rooting for my choice of dinner place, so I’m sitting this one out.
I rather enjoyed this steamed fish that we had. The broth was simple but heartwarming. The choice of fish used in this case wasn’t the Man’s fave. I, on the other hand, enjoyed it.
Deep-fried fish skin. What’s not to like? This was by far our fave which went down well with sake.
And signalling the end of the meal was the delicious beef slices that were barbecued in Japanese seasoning. Loved this one!
