New footwear

Move over Havaianas for footwear from holster is now making a beeline to occupy my wardrobe space!

More about holster – holster is Australia’s leading jellies footwear brand with designs that are swoon-worthy to cover you for the beach and beyond.

Many of the mommy friends on this What’s App group-chat that I recently joined were raving about their pair of holster’s. Well, I couldn’t resist checking them out and so I dropped by to the not too big store at Forum last weekend. To my delight, they were holding a sale at the atrium and were clearing some of their older stock.

Eyed this pair of studded holster’s in silver which is pretty much my style and would look great not just for the beach but also for day-to-day use.

IMG_8054And I paid S$29 for them after the discount (usual price is S$49 if I’m not wrong). These definitely looks much edgier and suited for daily use rather than the flip-flops that my Mom usually frown upon.

Great deal huh?! :)

I hope these pair will serve me well (ie: don’t hurt my bunions please) and I’m already eyeing my next pair of holster’s! Hehe

A different kind of party @ Anti-Oxidant Centre

I spend my evenings after dinner and before bedtime surfing the www and catching up on blogs – usually those that I read regularly.  Chanced upon Beverly’s post where she shared her recent experience at Anti-Oxidant Spa Centre and I was super envious of how her skin glowed after the Ganban-yoku therapy.  I was like ‘Can it really be?  After 1 session of lying down on an anti-oxidant bed, your skin could reap the benefits of the therapy?

A little skeptical but I’ve always been quite the adventurous sort for giving it a go.  So when Bev extended an invitation for me to join her at a little spa-do that she helped organised on behalf of Anti-Oxidant Spa Centre.  I knew I couldn’t say no to that!  :)

It was an evening out with the ladies, mostly bloggers and some whom I’ve followed on instagram for a while now. It was pretty cool meeting them in person and making a couple of new friends along the way.

Checking out: Creamier

On a really hot afternoon, I was in the mood for some ice-cream!  So when the Man came to pick me up in town after his golf game, I hopped into the car and went, ‘Let’s go for ice-cream!’  He was momentarily shocked at my sudden craving for ice-cream for I’m rather careful with what I eat these days.

I recalled M from M-Eats posting a photo of ice-cream on her Instagram feed a couple of weeks back which looked really good.  So I googled and found where Creamier was located.  I was all excited and couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into some ice-cream to take off the heat.  Thick, grey clouds filled the skies and soon after we arrived at Creamier, it started to pour.  Arh well, what the heck!  Since we were already there, raining or not, I was going to have my ice-cream!

IMG_6944Whoever knew, tucked in Toa Payoh Lorong 1 Estate, this artisanal ice-cream boutique parlor existed.  Specialising in handcrafted ice-cream in the most interesting of flavours, this charming shop was a pleasant find for the weekend.  If ice-cream is not what you fancy, they have pies from Windowsill Pies (correct me if I’m wrong), roasted coffee and yummy beer.  :)

IMG_6943

I did a little ‘investigation’ on the flavours offered at Creamier and was bowled over by the extensive variety of flavours they have.  While they may not necessarily have all of the flavours available in-store, one is still sufficiently spoiled for choice.  I was in two minds about Sea-Salt Caramel and Gula Melaka.  In the end, I went for the latter and added another scoop of Roasted Pistachio.

The Man decided to have waffles.  He’s usually not very adventurous when it comes to ice-cream flavours.  When he blurted out ‘Rum & Raisin’, I immediately went ‘So boring!  Why don’t you choose something else?’

So he did.

IMG_6951Went with a scoop of Earl Grey Lavender ice-cream which tasted light and fragrant.  A fetching combo with the waffle.

Craving satisfied, we walked hand-in-hand, squeezed under our tiny umbrella and headed back to our car with me making a mental note to come back and try the other flavours.

Weekend wanderings over at Pekoe & Imp

Some say that ‘Weekends are meant for sleeping in.’  Well, not for the Man and I, if we can help it.  We are usually up and about early. On a rare Saturday morning that doesn’t involve me fighting for his attention with golf, we made time for an early morning work-out before hitting town for a tea-tasting session over at Pekoe & Imp.

IMG_6775

Pekoe and Imp operates on a pop-up concept (ie: you’ll never know where they might just turn up).  Specialising in tea-brewing sessions and wanting to spread the word on how tea can be well-appreciated in its purest forms, patrons are treated to a tea-tasting series specially curated by Hongyuan (who co-owns Smitten) and Jaq (a special friend whom I had the privilege of knowing in the past 2 years).

IMG_6776After a short introduction on the 7 different teas that we would be having during our tasting session (starting from the light green/white/yellow teas before moving on to the heavier teas such as Oolong and Pu’er), Jaq wasted no time in making the first brew for the day.  I love the attention to the details, from ensuring that the water is boiled at the exact temperature before immersing the teas to Hongyuan taking time to explain to us how the tea-leaves are grown, gathered and the origins of the leaves. I felt like I had learned something new and walked away feeling a little more confident about how teas should look (myth busted: Chinese teas should all look brown in colour) and taste (myth busted: Chinese teas are all bitter).

Pekoe & Imp will be operating for just 3 more days at Atomi from 20 March to 22 March, so if you are interested to find out more, please do make an appointment with them via email : pekoeandimp@gmail.com and secure your slots.  They are real friendly so if you can’t find anyone to go with, do it alone.  I almost did but the Man was free.  Hehe.  Tasting sessions are S$25 a head.

Be sure to also follow Pekoe & Imp on Facebook or  Twitter to find out where they will pop up next.   :)

to INFINITY & beyond.. thanks to Kosé Singapore!

[Sponsored Review]
I’m thrilled to bits today to share with you the new whitening products that I’ve received from the Infinity Kosé range, thanks to the folks from Kosé Singapore.

And how did this opportunity come about?  Turned out that they were looking for 8 female bloggers to review their latest whitening series.  Some of my primary concerns as I age are having dull, blemished and sagging skin, and I’ve tried many products out there to brighten my skin as signs of ageing start to show.  So I decided to try my luck and lucky me, I was one of the 8 female bloggers picked by omy.sg and Kosé Singapore to be amongst the first in Singapore to try these out.

I’ve never really used Kosé products.  When I used to live in Tokyo, I recalled briefly using the Sekkisei Lotion Excellent and the Seikisho Mask White which I really thought was effective for clogged pores.  My girlfriend still swears by this product to this very day.  So I was pretty excited to be given this opportunity to try out their Infinity Kosé series that’s targeted for women in the mid-30s and beyond or women who are noticing sagging, wrinkles or lack of firmness in their skin.  BTW, I happen to belong in these 2 categories.  ;p

[Infinity = Infinite Beauty]

This highly functional range from Kosé promises to give one a sure feeling of effectiveness with instant improvement of skin colour, texture and elasticity.  One’s beauty is said to be renewed every day.  Wow!

Kosé has boosted the series with these 3 new anti-aging products added alongside their popular Infinity Kosé series this March:
a. Infinity Kosé Realizing White Lotion XX (160ml): S$110
b. Infinity Kosé Realizing White Serum XX (120ml): S$110
c. Infinity Kosé Deep Protection UV (30ml): S$54

Revealing the ingredient used to erase spots deep down: Kojic acid

The star ingredient of the INFINITY XX series, Kojic acid, is the smallest whitening agent that penetrates deep into skin to crush spot-creating melanin. It was discovered as a whitening ingredient years ago because Japanese sake brewery workers were found to have smooth, fair and flawless hands thanks to the fermentation of koji. [Source: Kosé Singapore]

The powerful properties of Kojic acid:

  • Kojic acid inhibits melanin production and eradicates blemishes;
  • Helps prevent dark spots and freckles caused by the sun;
  • Anti-aging and hydrating ingredients combine to create firm, elastic and translucent skin.

In addition to the popular whitening serum Infinity Kosé Realizing White XX [a whitening serum launched in 2011 ], the all-new Lotion XX and Serum XX is compounded with the active whitening agent, Kojic acid, generated from the power of fermentation.  It’s said that one is able to enjoy its immense whitening power as the Kojic acid is able to penetrate deep into the skin, stamping out stubborn blemishes from the root to create beautifully clear and resilient skin.

Now, let’s take a look at the products that I’ve been given to try.

Achieve instant clear whiteness with Realizing White Lotion XX:

Infinity Kosé Realizing White Lotion XX is a Kojic acid whitening lotion that helps deliver whitening ingredients to all corners of the skin and saturates it with moisture, giving skin a translucent glow thereafter.

Bringing about radiant brightness and resilience with Realizing White Serum XX:

Infinity Kosé Realizing White Serum XX is a whitening emulsion that delivers Kojic Acid to the skin, locks the whitening ingredients within the skin for effective brightening action.

Product features:

  • A whitening lotion and emulsion that effectively cares for various types of blemishes, creating bright skin that is clear from deep within.
  • Even on skin that’s hardened by UV rays or dryness, the highly compatible base softens the skin and penetrates from deep within, effectively targeting the melanocytes
  • Inhibits melanin generation, preventing blemishes and freckles caused by sunburn.
  • Strong whitening effects added with anti-aging care effects.
  • Creates elastic skin with firmness shine and translucency.

And for those who have been following my blog for a while now, you must know that I’m a huge advocate of using sunscreen!  I couldn’t be happier to share more about this amazing Deep Protection UV product that Kosé Singapore has added into the products given.

Thorough UV care to maintain a youthful look with Deep Protection UV:

The damage caused by UV rays does not stop at blemishes and freckles.  Photoaging symptoms such as wrinkles and sagging are in fact largely caused by UV rays as well.  The Infinity Kosé Deep Protection UV thoroughly guards mature skin from UVA and UVB, the culprits of photoaging, with the highest SPF/PA levels made available for the first time in Japan.  The revolutionary emulsion-like formula protects the skin’s translucency, firmness and resilience.

Product features:

  • Powerfully protects the skin from UVA rays (which burn the skin and gradually reduce its resilience) and UVB rays (which cause redness/inflammation), both of which are primary causes of photoaging
  • With the highest SPF/ PA protection available from Japan (SPF50+/PA+++)
  • Spreads smoothly over the face and hydrates, fitting closely over the skin creating a strong, even film
