Quizzed by BJ

I was only all too happy to answer this list of questions by a dear blog-friend – Book Junkie from Singapore Actually.  BJ is really one of the sweetest bloggers I’ve known and am really honoured that our paths crossed through blogosphere.  I’m a huge fan of her work and if you really want a glimpse of how life is like in our tiny island or want to find out more about the places to go to, then head on over and peer into her blog.

Here are BJ’s 11 questions for me:

1. What is the best trip you have ever made that you would recommend to others? Which country did you visit?
One of the best trips that I’m most fond of would be the one I took with my cousins to London – Florida when I was 17.  The parents sent me and my second sis on a holiday with my youngest aunt and her family.  Turned out to be a wonderful trip as I was really close to my cousins then.  We had a ball!  From sharing rooms in London to roller-coaster rides in Orlando.  We visited Disney World and Universal Studios in Florida and had a BLAST!  Of course, there were some squabbles along the one but we quickly forgot about those.

2. If you could choose, where would you have liked to be born?
Hmm.. Japan perhaps.  I love the Japanese culture loads and often wonder what it would be like growing up in Tokyo / Japan.

3. What is your dream vocation?
I’m a dreamer and have dreamed of several vocations.  Right now, my dream vocation would be being in concierge services.  I love sussing out the good deals and recommending them to people.

4. What blog or website do you read daily without fail?
My instagram feed.  I love catching up on my fave bloggers pics via this app.

5. What book are you reading now?
The perks of being a wallflower by Stephen Chboksy.

6. Do you play an instrument?
Yeah! I used to play the organ and clarinet when I was in the school band for about a year.

7. What did you like best about your childhood?
Sleepovers with my cousins!

8. What is your biggest regret?
Job-hopping.  I wished I stayed in some of my careers a little longer than usual. Maybe that way, I don’t feel so stuck in my career now.

9. Name 5 of your favourite foods?
Potato Chips, Yong Tau Foo, Bak Chor Mee, Siew Mai and Ume Onigiri.

10. Name your favourite celebrity.
Victoria Beckham – she’s got a killer sense of style.

11. What is the most important value to you?
Trust.

I had fun doing this, so thanks once again to BJ for inviting me to be part of this.  :)

#10 essential wardrobe piece: LBD

Making it number 10 on the list is the ubiquitous Little Black Dress (or LBD as it’s affectionately known).  It’s style is timeless and classic, plus the colour can play in your favour and flatter your figure too.  It has also been a life-saver on several occasions when the invitation calls for Formal, Evening or Business.  I just open up my wardrobe and search the stash of black dresses tucked in the corner of the closet.  And if I’m in a fashion rut or feeling ‘blue’, all I do is to put on one of these black dresses.

Whoa… can you believe that 10 weeks have just flown past?  This pretty much signals the end of this series… ta-dah… Lady’s J 10 essential wardrobe pieces that will see you through the changing seasons.

♥ Much Love Mondays ♥

If you look hard enough, these floating pieces of fishballs actually do form a heart-shaped figure!  Well, I didn’t arrange them like this, it just so happened to be in this formation when I snapped today’s breakfast.  ;)

So what’s there to love about this Monday?

♥ The amazing variety of breakfast choices that are available in our tiny island!  From hot steamy bowls of soups to bee hoon, nasi lemak, one will never be bored! ♥  Meeting up with new friends and old ones!  I’m finally well (fingers crossed) to actively go out there and paint the town red!  Quite excited with a couple of meet-ups and can’t wait to share them. ♥ Japanese food!  I’m going to stuff myself silly with fresh sashimi and all that awesome Jap food tomorrow!  ♥ Manicures and pedicures!  Rescue to my parched and dry hands and feet.  ♥

So, what are some of the things that you love this Monday?  Help chase those Monday blues away simply by sharing what you love with others!

♥ Much Love Mondays ♥

Well I supposed if I can’t have a photo with a heart, the word ‘Love’ would suffice right?

Spreading positive vibes in this weekly Monday meme, here’s what I’m really loving about this Monday:

♥ The Man is back and the parentals are coming back this week = Family Reunion ♥ That tomorrow is a holiday and that I don’t have to work ♥ We’re finally going to catch the last installment of the Harry Potter movie – Closure! ♥ That even though it’s a public holiday tomorrow (National Day in Singapore), majority of the shops ARE opened!! [This would be a different story in Europe, click here to read my friend L's encounter with the current summer vacation situation in Geneva.] ♥ And if we are really lucky, catching a glimpse of the fireworks that will light up our skies! ♥

Outfits: Playing dre$$ up

When the lovely R from the Pleasure Monger tagged me on this meme, I got really excited and was all raring to put together an outfit.  It was a great excuse to channel the energy into doing one of the things I love – playing dress up!  :)

I mentally prepped the outfits that I wanted to showcase. BUT, the only problem I had was that the clothes that I had originally wanted to share aren’t here in Geneva yet.  Sigh.. they are still stuck in those 17 boxes at the customs in between here and Antwerp.  It’s been 5 weeks!  I need my clothes/ shoes/ bags/ toiletries and FOOD!

So, I kinda ‘cheated’, for on the recent weekend trip to Madrid, I happily hopped into Zara and put together an outfit just for this challenge.  Just the outfit okay, the rest of the stuff, I just used whatever I have in my suitcase that we’ve been living on.

I find this season’s Zara collection simply breath-taking.  I can’t help going into the stores or going online to check what new stuff they have.  Now that I am not financially independent, I need to learn how to stretch my dollar.  So shopping for Zara in Spain was perfect, for it was so much more affordable compared to what I would have paid for the same item in Switzerland or Singapore.

This is my Candy colour get-up this Summer as fashion’s penchant for greens, lemon yellows, neon blues, bright pinks and purples continue to rule the runway.  I picked up this bright fuchsia pink skinny jeans from Zara (25.95 EUR) and paired it with a black laser-cut cotton tunic (17.95 EUR) also from the same brand.

My metallic blue Ferragamo jelly shoes from the past Season’s collection are a superb buy from the factory outlet which cost me about 60 EUR (more than 50% off the retail price).  And, with such a bright get-up, I kept accessories to the minimal with this grey woven leather bracelet (30 SGD).

Lastly, my handbag of choice is my Balenciaga Twiggy which is a perfect bag that I’ve had and travel with, for its edgy style is great for casual and slightly dressy outfits too.

Ta-dah, there you have it!  My attempt on putting together an outfit that hopefully won’t burst your pocket.

Since you’re at it, why don’t you pop on down and check out these gorgeous ladies sense of style (I’ll update as the list grows):

Go on raid my wardrobe!

What’s in my bag : Weekend

Over drinks with the Imp last night, I marveled at her bag (and btw, love those Tory Burch shoes that you wore – they are simply the best flats yeah?).  Having just raided her bag recently, I said that there’s no way that bag she was touting could carry all her stuff she posted previously, she smiled gleefully and said it was her weekend bag (la).

She said she was going to do a post on her weekend bag for it holds lesser things that the daily bag.  I gamely said I will follow suit for I too have a bag that I sort of specifically take around when the weekend beckons.

My bag of choice for the weekends is usually the Balenciaga First in Cobalt Blue.  Yes, I love this shade of blue very much!  I have 2 blouses, a dress, a pair of Ray Ban shades and a bag in this electrifying shade.  The Balenciaga First is actually rather tiny but for the weekend, it’s perfect cos I’m usually out about town running errands.  I usually chuck my wallet, my iPhone, my cardholder and keys.  And depending on my attire, I rotate my sunglasses to match the outfit or mood.  Felt like a tee and denim shorts kind of gal today, so popped my trusty Ray Ban Wayfarers to complete the laid-back look.

So, do you have a weekend bag?  What goes in it?  I’ll love to find out, so do link back to this post and I’ll update the list as it grows.

In the meantime, go suss out what’s in Imp’s weekend bag and I’m tagging Miss Ene for the fun of it since she started this ‘What’s in your bag’ meme in the first place.

Check out what’s in my bag or simply raid my wardrobe.

day fourteen::

a photo of you and someone you love.

[I really love the man and this candid shot taken at our wedding dinner.  We were goofing around around practicing for our grand entrance into the ballroom.]

[I couldn't resist putting another pic of me and the fur-kid whom I absolutely love to bits!  He grew big too fast!]

There you have it, my 14-day photo project.  It’s been fun going through my photo library and selecting the pics.  If you are going to embark on this project, do leave me a comment.  Would love to see your photos.
