MOMA – Museum of Modern Art

There were several museums that I had really wanted to visit, namely, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, American Museum of Natural History, Guggenheim Museum and The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA)  I was truly spoilt for choice and if time were a luxury, I would have done more.  In the end, with the one free afternoon we had, we decided to head to the MOMA simply because it was pretty close to where we were staying in the city.

MOMA has been important in developing and collecting modernist art, and is often identified as the most influential museum of modern art in the world.  The museum’s collection offers an unparalleled overview of modern and contemporary art, including works of architecture and design, drawings, painting, sculpture, photography, prints, illustrated books and artist’s books, film, and electronic media.

Here are some of my favourite shots at the museum:

Andy Warhol. Gold Marilyn Monroe. 1962

Roy Lichtenstein. Girl with Ball. 1961

We even found time to fool around with some of the exhibits.. thank goodness, we didn’t get chased out.

Vincent van Gogh. The Starry Night. Saint Rémy, June 1889

Kinda like the last shot of the Man looking longingly at the big picture of a comfy bed.  Hehe
