Going digital {outfits for the work week}

I’ve been tired of late.  No particular reason, just been heading to work and then home.  It’s like energy levels are at an all-time low but fear not, I’m trying to zap myself out of this phase and bounce back into action!

In the meantime, totally frivolous but here’s what keeps me going through the week – dressing up for work!  ;)   I’m one of those that needs to plan what to wear the night before heading to work.  I can’t just get up and then stare at the wardrobe and pick out the outfit.  Somehow that kinda spoils my routine and I end up feeling out of sorts.  I know it feels silly but that’s just how I operate.

Here goes:

Monday blues kicked in and it was one of those days that I prob crawled out and got up on the wrong side of the bed.  Picked up this ASOS digital TV screen blouse on the day of work and paired it with a pencil skirt.  Somehow the combo didn’t look great on me and I ended up feeling extra conscious of the outfit.  Don’t know why I even picked out the skirt for I hardly even wear skirts to work.  Sheesh!  Tuesday felt a little better as I put on my MBMJ striped dress in colourful hues that seemed to perk my day.

Theme for this Wednesday’s dress-up at the workplace was Arabian Nights.  I had to cover a work event and couldn’t be decked out in too funky colours, so I chose this navy blue dress with palm and hut prints.  Tried to justify fitting into the theme by saying that the palm print is a tribute to the Palm in Dubai.  The colleagues just rolled their eyes at me.  Hey, at least I tried.  ;p

Thursday felt like a neon kinda day so I put on my fave neon yellow necklace and paired a digital printed bubble top with pants.

And yes, there’s always something magical about Friday.  You feel a lot happier that the weekend is here and you have 2 glorious days just to chill and relax before the start of the work week.  So putting myself in a chirpy mood with this fun floral blazer that I bought from Love Bonito.  I had wanted to do an all-white ensemble but somehow it didn’t look too good with white pants so I just put on a basic white tee, black jeans and let the printed floral blazer do all the talking.

Emotions at work was kinda a roller-coaster ride as KT and I got to review our latest food-place at work which was a pretty fun thing to do, then before I left for work, I said goodbye to one of my dearest colleagues who’s leaving the team to chase her dreams in Dubai.  Will miss the cool shenaigan at work, now we’re left with one more crazy one before he leaves the team in August to complete his studies.

Oh-kay, no more talk about work.  The weekend is upon us and what plans have you got?  I’m off for a swing test at the range and am crossing my fingers and toes that I pass!  Wish me luck please!

‘Power dressing’ to work

Just a collection of my outfits to work this week:

Ramping up Tuesday with a lace top paired with my fave neon pink necklace! //  Theme for this Wednesday’s dress-up to work was Midsummer.  So I wore my floaty chiffon swallow printed dress.. didn’t win though..

Thursday felt like a spotty day for me and I simply piled on the armswag //  And Friday?  A floral dress put on for dinner with pals at Gardens by the Bay.  :)

Happy Sunday y’all and here’s wishing you a great week filled with fashion inspirations!  I know I definitely need it for the theme of next Wednesday’s WOW challenge is Arabian Nights and I really have no clue what to wear.  Yikes!!!

Playing with spots.

I love this MBMJ polka-dotted dress that I purchased online. But the problem with internet shopping is that you don’t always get to try on the outfit before buying them.  I often choose to take that leap of faith and pray that the size would somehow miraculously fit.  But, alas, when this dress came, it turned out to be a little large for me.  So I had to bring it to my tailor to have it fixed but the dress ended up being a little too short.  Sigh.. so what did I do?  Brought it to Geneva and hoped that I could pull off the look over leggings for Fall.  But Fall came and gone, and it was too late.

Turns out I’m kinda sick of my wardrobe choices this Winter comprising mainly of jeans/skinny jeans and knitwear, so I decided to pick up this dress and see what I could possibly do with it to keep myself warm from the chilly weather while playing dress-up.

After fussing and playing around with a couple of looks, I eventually emerged with this final outfit combo that I thought could work for a fun day out at the Farmers’ Market.

The dress is made of a thin silk material which is perfect for Singapore’s weather but obviously not for Winter.  So to make it Winter-worthy, I paired the dress with some wool leggings and threw on my Lanvin en Blue zipped-up sweater plus a bomber jacket (not pictured here).  It actually worked perfectly, for the dress together with the sweater kinda look like one complete outfit. Love the detailing on my sweater too.. the cute ribbons, the badge and the slightly oversized sleeves made this a great buy for me!  :)

And to keep my feet warm and snuggly while walking out in the open, I slipped on my UGG boots.

What do you think?  I thought this fun outfit worked out pretty fine.  :)

Finally, this post kinda reminded me of my little sis who’s down with HFMD.  No pun intended on the title but hoping that you feel bright as sunshine soon!  :)

Get covered

I have a little obsession with mobile phone covers.  I like protecting my phone with swanky or funky covers depending on the mood.  Now that I’m not working, the mood obviously gears towards eye-popping colours/prints.  The Man thinks I’m nuts cos the last cover that I splurged on ended up breaking.

So, I couldn’t resist getting a new one to replace the broken one when I received a shopping voucher from Net-a-porter.   There were of course so many things that I could get with the voucher, instead, I decided to splurge it on yet another phone cover.  Fashionista Cat thought I was mildly insane for letting a good deal go to waste while I justified to the Man that the new mobile phone cover was practically ‘free’ did I manage to get away with buying a new one.

I really liked the jungle printed cover from Marc by Marc Jacobs and when I got the cover, I thought it was perfect!  Pretty funky but yet subtle enough for work if I ever head back to the workforce.  Unfortunately, the quality of the product was less than desirable.  I used the cover for less than a month and the print on the cover started to peel off.

Needless to say, I wasn’t a happy camper!  Thank goodness, it ain’t to difficult to get mobile phone covers here and I walked away with a cutesy one within 15 minutes of window-shopping.

Okay, don’t judge me but yes, I’m a closet ‘Hello Kitty’ fan.  ;)

And the other cover?  It’s on its way back to the UK for the Net-a-Porter to assess whether I’m able to get some sort of refund for this.  Fingers crossed.
