A week of accessorising..

Fresh picks from my little weekend get-away thrown in with a couple of old fave pieces.  Here’s what I paired them with for a seemingly-short-but-felt-like-it-was-a-long week. Tuesday: Electric blue shirt dress with a turquoise blue necklace.
Wednesday:  My dramatic Leopard rhinestone necklace with a leopard ‘preens’ top.

Thursday:  Piling on the neon bling necklaces with a diamante spike necklace.  But boy are these heavy!  The shoulders felt a little tight after wearing them.  Hmph..
Friday:  One of my fave buys from the Bangkok trip, a short dress with floral and skull digital prints.  Love the ‘now you see it, now you don’t’ type of effect.  Didn’t want to take the attention away from the dress, so I simply piled on the armswag.

There you have it.  Accessories do make all the difference and they appear to be all the rage this season.  Don’t be afraid to clash colours or pile on as many as you want.  You’ll definitely fit right in with these statement pieces.

Going wild

I really liked what I saw when I sat at my table prepping for my floral arrangement lesson this week.  2 more lessons to go and I would have completed my basic floral design course.  Yippee!!

One of the things I miss about not working is having the flexibility during the day to indulge in my various hobbies.  But well, there is always a trade-off I guess.  Looking forward to weekend and adding this to the long list of other things-to-do.

This week, I learned the vertical arrangement.  I actually liked it and if you think it was easy, it wasn’t.  As with all the previous designs, there actually is a technique to arranging this.  I loved how it turned out – wild, but in harmony with nature.  What do you think?

Florals

It’s been a while since I last updated what I’ve learnt at my floral arrangement class.  After taking close to a 4-week break, I’ve finally made some time over the weekend to resume classes.  Learnt how to arrange pink roses with cream eustomas in a cone-shaped arrangement.  Not totally leaving this style but I guess it’s useful if I have a tall vase to place the arrangement on.  What do you think? ;)

Pretty in Pink

What I learnt on my sixth floral arrangement lesson:

The Crescent Arrangement filled with Anthuriums, Pink Roses, Orchids and Eustomas.

I’m not a big fan of Anthuriums but somehow this arrangement worked pretty fine. On to lesson 7! ;)

Blooming this week..

I liked what I learnt this week – the Inverted T floral arrangement.  Didn’t look like much initially but after adding in the leaves and stems, I thought it looked pretty good!  What do you think?  ;)

Bright blooms

This week’s lesson saw me arranging bright pink carnations in a triangle design.  Love the bright pink blooms that are now sitting in the loft.  This arrangement is a lot more tricky compared to the first 2 that I’ve learnt.  I guess that’s the challenge.   Hopefully in time I will improve.   :)   3 down and 7 more lessons to go.

Blooms

The water lilies have bloomed and they are gorgeous!

Looking at this pretty sight sure lifts the spirits and make me happy.

What about you?  What are some of the simple things that does wonders for the soul?
