Wholesome lunch

I probably would fail terribly if I ever chose to make a career as a mixologist.  The lethal combination of Champagne, Sake and Whisky left me feeling horrible the next day.  I had a couple of friends to meet yesterday and was really glad that friends selected the venues for lunch and dinner.  I don’t count myself as a picky eater and am always game to try some place that I’ve never been before.

I was up for a light lunch after the heavy feasting in Penang, so when Imp suggested Real Food Cafe along Killiney Road, I had no objections with that.   Even with clear instructions on how to get to the place, I still got a little ‘lost’ and ended up walking up the street twice trying to spot the cafe.  Silly me, I should have just looked across the road for it was just there!

I’ve grown fond of catching up with the Imp, fixing a date, time, venue is relatively painless and she’s always on time whenever we meet.  That’s a big plus for me!  I’ve been kept waiting by friends before, sometimes 30 minutes or even longer and I don’t really like the feeling.  So I always make an effort to be on time or if I’m running late for whatever reason, to call/text and inform the other party about 20-30 mins ahead of the time that we’re supposed to meet.

I was hungry and so was the Imp.  So she went ahead to order her main dish of Pesto Pasta and some small dishes for sharing.  We ended up with a lot of food!  I enjoyed the dumpling soup very much.  Hot soup was what I needed to help me get over the pounding headache fast.

My order of the Fried Vermicelli recommended by the Imp was very good.  Bee hoon tossed in sesame oil and served with a generous serving of assorted vegetables.  The fresh chilli belachan looking thing served on the side was extremely yummy as well as I mixed my bee hoon with it.  Portion was rather huge and I ended up not finishing my main.

Water is not served free here and I was feeling kinda parched so I ended up ordering 2 fresh juices instead to quench my thirst.  The Imp thought the colours that I had on plus me holding on to my juice popped out, so she grabbed my camera and snapped this pic.  ;p  Food here is pretty good, making a mental note to come back here and try out the other dishes in future.

After the hearty lunch, we walked over to Orchard Central to check out the newly opened Dean & Deluca.  Was expecting it to be slightly larger but it filled up approximately one-third of the floor.  Didn’t think the offerings were that great and the ambiance for coffee wasn’t that fantastic either.  Picked up some breads, did a spot of shopping before taking a leisurely walk in the heat and going on our separate ways for different appointments.

oh yes. after last Fri’s debacle, you’ve no idea how grateful i am for friends like you who keep time, and aren’t the least bit indecisive about where to go and what to do.
