Trend alert: Go bold with NEON

Ladies, neon is back in fashion this season in a big way!  But you wanna stay away from looking like you stepped out of the fashion era from the 80s.  Yes, remember the 80s’ where neon colours clashed and basically everything from fingerless gloves to fish-net stockings went together on the same outfit?

So how does one wear neon without looking like (a) a fashion disaster and (b) a total fashion victim?  Here are a couple of ideas that you may wish to explore:

Jason Wu Silk-Trimmed Jersey Dress

Add a touch of neon to something that’s tailored.  If you do not wish to look like a highlighter in a single neon colour outfit then let the subtle strokes of neon be the attention of the outfit.  Just that little pop of neon helps inject a little fun to the outfit.

Fluoro Cambridge Satchels

Or if your wardrobe consist mainly of whites/blacks/blues/greys and you are not sure if you wanna put on anything neon as a top or bottom then why not let your arm candy do the talking? Simply carry an IT bag in the hottest hot pink/orange/yellow/green versions.

And if an electrified neon head-to-toe outfit isn’t what you are looking for, then the best way to dip your toes into this trend is with accessories.  Accessories are the best and really the most affordable way to test out a trend without making a huge commitment. You get maximum impact with minimum investment – something that the Man would totally approve!

Here’s my take on electrifying the look without looking like a glo stick:

I get that this neon trend might not be everyone’s cup of tea but for me, it’s definitely the energy drink for this season!  If you are in on the trend, then drink up and enjoy the boost!  Whee! :)
