An update: Making the switch

I’ve always been a Clarins girl but of late, I’ve decided to ‘jazz’ up my beauty regime and switch my loyalty to another brand.  The brand in question?  Bio-essence.  A home-grown brand.  The Man was a little stunned by my decision wondering if it’s because he hasn’t given me enough pocket-money.  I laughed, for the reason was simply to let my skin be treated to a different type of product as I felt that the Clarins products don’t seem to be working that well for my skin anymore.

Decided to give the Bird’s Nest range of products a try.  The Bio-essence 24K Bio-Gold cream seemed to have garnered some of the beauty awards in our local mags recently and since it wasn’t crazily expensive, I thought I would give it a try as my night cream.  Since my facial wash and eye-cream was finishing, I decided to pick up those products in the Bird’s Nest range to try out as well.

Crossing my fingers to see if the products work.  I’m hopeful for I used to use their Deep Cleansing Milk a couple of years back and thought it was a effective and affordable product for an over-the-counter brand.  So watch this space to see if I will rave or trash the products in time to come.

An update (11 June 2012):  It’s been about 2 weeks since I used the above products.  How did I find them?  Texture of the Bio-essence 24K Bio-Gold cream was a little sticky and took a while to have it blended into the skin.  I’ve been using it mainly at night but felt that I didn’t wake up with any sort of glow the next morning.  I’m going to switch to another product but this will not be wasted, I’ll just apply this on my neck.

As for the Eye-cream, I thought it was light-weight and dark circles seem to have improved.  I’ll continue using this for the evening and update the progress along the way.

Lastly, review on the Bird’s Nest Nutri-Collagen and Whitening Cleanser?  Not impressed.  It was rather drying for my skin though it could be used on all skin types.  I probably won’t use this twice daily for it’s probably going to dry out my skin even faster.

Hit rate for Bio-essence so far?  1 out 3 products that I picked out worked.  Not highly impressed so far, so gonna move along to another over-the-counter beauty brand.  Stay tuned! ;)

I switched some years ago from Clarins to Dermalogica. I love SKII miracle water and vitamin C but I wish it wasn’t so gosh darn crazy expensive. Would love to be recommended something cheaper that doesn’t feel oily which is what I love about insanely expensive SKII

I’ve never used SKII before but I’ve heard that once you used it, you can really tell the difference. I’m gonna try a couple of mid-priced serums so hopefully those are good enough to be recommended for others to try. :)
