Today was a day of family fun with the fur-kid as we brought him to take part in his first-ever National Dog Walk 2011 organised by the Singapore Kennel Club.
The highlight of the day was, of course, the dog walk where apparently hundreds of dog-lovers (present company included) participated in. The mission? To complete an estimated 1.5km walk together with your best friend. Should be easy-peasy for the Man who’s used to running about 5-10km twice a week. As for me, I thought it would probably be a walk in the park. How bad can 1.5km be?
I was in fact worried about Sparky for he can be rather lazy and when he doesn’t feel like walking, his ‘brakes’ come on and he will just lie flat on the ground, usually with me screaming and pulling his leash to get him to stand up. Erm, at this point, I have to say that I don’t abuse nor ill-treat my dog, I absolutely love him to bits but there are times where some of his actions does get on my nerves and the disciplinarian in me kicks in.
Can you spot Sparky standing at the front of the Start line, all raring to go? After the flag-off, amazingly the Man and Sparky led the pack for a good distance and poor me was lagging behind trying to walk as fast as I could to catch up with the duo. The pooch was rather sweet for he knew I was behind and kept stopping to turn his head to look for me.
He was super tired after walking the 1.5km and just plonked on the grass after the walk. Hehe.. he usually ain’t used to walking this much as part of his daily exercise regime. So as a reward to finishing the race, we bought him 6 lamb meat-balls which he had no problems in finishing up all in a go!
We also met up with other Goldie friends and Sparky meets his sister – Cammie again. Can you guess who’s who?
