While I was researching our culinary itinerary for Lyon, I read out aloud – Paul Bocuse and immediately B jumped in and said, ‘Let’s go to his restaurant in Lyon!‘ So, I scrambled and decided to make reservations at Le Nord – a casual bistro located near our hotel.

The most memorable part of the meal? Drinking this WHITE Châteauneuf-du-Pape by Paul Jaboulet! According to the Man, it’s one of the best wines in Rhône valley region. I have to agree… smooth and silky finish.

French Onion Soup
Pate in home-made bread
River fish in special broth, served with rice
Oven-baked buttered frog legs with garlic
The Man’s starter of the pate was clearly a good choice. As for my Onion Soup, nothing out of the extraordinary for I really enjoy drinking soups. The mains were a little disappointing! Nothing seemed to resonate with our taste-buds. The fish main course tasted like an Asian fusion course gone wrong, the river-fish was assembled to look and taste like fish-cake. The sauce tasted neither like curry or tomato-based. The only saving grace for this dish? The jasmine rice. And don’t even get me started on the frog legs for there was just too much grease in the serving pan!
We’ll give this Paul Bocuse bistro a miss for now if we ever head back to Lyon for another visit.
