Yearning for some great food, we decided to suss out a list of restaurants that we could check out while hanging out at our fave free wifi place – the Apple store. Of the list of restaurants that came recommended, Le Relais de l’Entrecôte struck a chord with us as we were pretty familiar with the offerings which we thought couldn’t go wrong for we enjoyed the dining experience in Singapore.
L’Entrecôte is used as an informal name for the Le Relais de l’Entrecôte restaurants operated by another daughter of Paul Gineste de Saurs, with three locations in Paris and one in Geneva. The oldest of these, in Paris’s 6th arrondissement, is widely known as L’Entrecôte Saint-Germain. This group has five additional locations operating under licence, three in Beirut, one in Kuwait City, and one in Doha.
We arrived at the restaurant at about 11.55am and were surprised to find people waiting in line. Gee, that should be a good sign right? When the doors opened, our servers came out to greet us and promptly showed us to our table. Thankfully, we knew what to expect so the close proximity of our neigbouring tables is not something that was unusual.

The only thing that is slightly different from the Singapore counterpart is the order of starters. Our server dished out the crisp green salad followed by a hearty serving of tender strips of grilled steak drenched in herb-based sauce maison (house sauce) and shoe-string fries. Wait, make that 2 portions! We though the sauce was smoother than the one we had in Singers despite it being abit oily.
Choice of dessert for the Man is predictable – chocolate fondant cake. Nothing to scream about, it was just good.
Food-wise? It was good… we thoroughly enjoyed the steak and I could almost wolf down the 2 portions which I normally wouldn’t. Price-wise? A little high on the side seeing that it was lunch, we paid close to S$200 for the meal which included half a bottle of wine. But apparently by Swiss standards, this meal would have considered mid-priced. Yikes!

yah lor. that’s the thing about Europe. I had to re-adjust all my definition of ‘expensive’ when dining out.
Ya man.. and it’s not even quality that you are paying for that amount of price… Ironically dining in France was cheaper.. hehe
