Pleasure_Monger’s Lychee Chiffon Cake – TDF!!

Ms R from Pleasure Monger has been baking up a storm in her kitchen.  Her latest post is uber drool-worthy!!  Combining 2 things I absolutely love – lychee and the best part of it, PINK cake.  If you hadn’t already guessed, PINK my all-time fave colour!  I have a weakness for lychee in desserts – Lychee Martini Cake from Pine Garden, Lychee Cake from Mariott Hotel, Lychee freeze and Lychee Martinis (hmm.. the latter isn’t a dessert right?).

For the recipe, pls check out Pleasure Monger’s blog-post here.  Now, I just need to spare the time in the kitchen to make this.  Alternatively, STEPH, if you are reading this, please learn to make this and come back to Singers to bake for me! ;p

Hey! Thanks for doing a write-up on my cake!! Very honoured to be featured here :D Steph, if you are making the cake for J, add some lychee essence! I think it will be so much better, hope it works! J, you are so lucky to have a friend who bakes for you…I wish I have one!!!

Dun mention pleasure_monger. Good things are meant to be shared (with credit given to you of cos). Steph is my little sister studying in the UK. She’s becoming quite a whizz in the kitchen. She just whipped up a batch of pineapple tarts, kueh bangkit and even bak kwa!

Hey! The cake looks really good! Too bad there’s no lychee essence here =( (I live in the UK!) but I’m trying to use up my friend’s lychee tins – so this is a good idea! You think the lychee syrup will work?? =S

I live in the UK too!!! Yikes, I haven’t managed to find lychee essence too. I think you can try the lychee syrup, although you might want to cut down on the sugar in the cake, because the syrup is sweet to start with. Or if you can find lychee liquor, I think that will work! Depending on your oven, I find the lychee flavour from fresh juice gets lost quite quickly, I only had a subtle hint left, which was nice but I was hoping for a real burst of lychee flavour, much like the lychee martini cake from Pine Garden. Let me know if the syrup works! Wow I’m really impressed with the things you made, Stephanie. Bak kwa!!!!! *drool*

Hahahah that’s good stuff! True true!!! Will try soon! gotta coordinate with when my friend’s are free! Wow! You’re in the UK? Nice!!!! Baking here is like HEAVEN PLEASE – the dairy products are so reasonable compared to singapore! I know! I really like the Pine Garden one! Will try!! Hahah Bak Kwa is surprising easy (and healthy if you make your own!)!!!
